Is the weather really changing?

Can it be true? More importantly, can I get my hopes up? It's been
sunny all weekend, beautiful weather, great for practicing taiji.

I've got this big bag of rice that I'm slowly cooking through. Tried
steaming some vegetables in with the rice once, not too much success.
Tried to make rice pudding once. The result tasted good, until I put
it in my refrigerator cum freezer.

(Although it looks like a refrigerator and, I think, is supposed to be
one, everything I put in there, even soy sauce, gets frozen solid.
The good thing about the soy sauce is that it thaws out almost
instantaneously. The same can not be said of most other things. The
biggest problem I had was with some eggs, which of course split open a
little, but when I took them out I couldn't fry them immediately
because they were frozen solid. So I tried boiling them, with some
moderate success. Unfortunately, I've yet to figure out how to buy
salt (MSG seems to predominate), so they were a little hard to
season.)

If anyone has a good recipe for rice pudding, please pass it on, I'll
probably try it. I also tried to make some risotto, based on a recipe
in "How to Cook a French Fry", which has been very useful when I've
consulted it. It came out fairly well, used celery greens, peanuts,
raisins, an interesting spice packet I found at the market, a little
garlic, tossed in some tofu at the end because I wasn't about to
prepare a separate protein dish, I don't have the cooking tools or
burners or ingredients to accomodate that. I used a little too much
Granulated Chicken Bouillon, and the spice packet, while interesting,
didn't quite work, but the celery greens were pretty good.

Anyway, that's all for now. I've got several new pics, with captions,
up in the Yangshuo album, so you might want to take another look at
that. If you don't see them there, let me know and I'll send another
invitation. Okay, got to go, it's time to lock down the school
building.
