In Korea
Yep, I made it. It's pretty cool. For now it looks like I'll be
staying in a room in Chung Euy's (the company's director's) parents'
apartment. That will probably last for the next few weeks, but may
change sooner. Seems like a good way for me to learn language and
etiquette though, so it should be fine.
Since I've come in on a tourist visa, I'm limited to a 30-day stay, so
I'll probably go visit friends in China in early October and get a
work visa while I'm there. Looking into that now. Yeah, have a lot
of work to do really. Looks like in addition to lighting design I'll
also be doing basic PR work, since my English is the best. I really
need to learn Korean fast. Okay, just wanted to let y'all know I made
it, I'm fine, it's an interesting place. Will add comment that it's
kind of strange, it feels more American than any other Asian city I've
been in, but still has the masses of neon/lighted signage on buildings
that I've come to expect in East Asian cities. Geography looks
pleasant too, good hills, near the ocean. I bet there's some great
hiking, when I have some time.
